Garage Organizers Are Not Just For The Garage!

Perhaps you have already organized your garage? If you have, you may have a whole array of different garage organizers. This may include garage counters and different sizes of cabinets, a peg or slat wall system that takes shelves, hooks, baskets etc. for hanging a variety of item, you may even have overhead organizers that allow you to store items from your garage ceiling. So, your garage is organized, but are there other areas in your house that need the same organizational skills? Let's take a look at some other areas where garage organizers might be the solution you need.

A laundry room is a perfect place for some garage organizers. You can use the cabinets that hang on the wall to put above your washer and dryer. I have some of these in my laundry room with two shelves that span between the cabinets. I keep light bulbs, cleaning supplies and rags in the cupboards along with some of the more dangerous household chemicals, such as bug sprays. On the shelves I keep my laundry supplies and some other things I use regularly. This is a simple set up, but very efficient for a small laundry area. If you have a larger laundry room, you could have a full set up of cabinets with open shelves for keeping towels and other items and a top surface for folding clothes. Very handy indeed!

A hobby or sewing room is another very appropriate place for garage organizers. Besides the obvious uses for a whole variety of cabinets and cupboards, regardless of your hobby, there are also other organizers that can be very helpful. Such as a tool box or chest that have drawers and trays for storing small items. If you have a lot of small items, you could even use a tool cart that is on wheels. Another great option are the slat wall systems. These are so versatile that you can use a myriad of different shelves, racks and hooks for all sorts of items. There are even specialty items with some systems, such as caddies designed to hold paper towels with a small shelf above for cleaners, that can be real handy in this type of room. Storage bin cabinets with a lot of tiny bins, originally designed for holding a lot of different screw, nut, bolts etc., is perfect for organizing small items such as buttons. Besides the cabinet type that hang on the wall, you can also get portable storage bins. These are perfect for all types of crafts.

Besides cabinets, garage organizers that hang on the wall are perfect for a play room. Stuffed animals and balls go great in the baskets that hang on the slat wall systems, or you can place puzzles, books or toys on the shelves that you can also get for the same system. This open style design makes it easy for kids to see what toys they have, instead of digging through everything to get to the toy at the bottom of the toy box, so less mess, which also means easier clean up. As your child grows, the shelves and baskets can easily be adjusted.

An attic is also a great place for garage organizers. An organizer style that I have seen well utilized in an attic are the overhead storage systems; primarily the style that allows you to hang bins from the ceiling. These bins are often used already for storing seasonal clothing or decorative items, old files and keepsakes. If you can get them off the floor and stored hanging from the ceiling, you have saved yourself tons of storage space on the floor. It also keeps them out of your garage so that you can use that space more effectively for items that are accessed more often.

As you can see, garage organizers are not just for the garage! So what room do you need to organize next and what type of system will work best for you?
